The Guardalavaca resort
is located in the municipality of Banes, in the province
of Holguin; at 800 km from Havana and at 42 km from its
provincial capital.
The beaches have a sand strip of about 40 meters that extends
for more than 1 ½ km. On the other side, the resort
presents typical characteristics of Cuban countryside with
abundant vegetation, hills, valleys and lagoons.
Guardalavaca is close to other major resorts like Playa
Esmeralda and Playa Pesquero. Cayo Saetia, the colonial
municipality of Gibara and the municipality of Bariay where
disembarked the Admiral Christopher Columbus in 1492 are
also very close. From a geographical stand point, Guardalavaca
is an important region for the development of tourism.
